วัดโพธิ์ชัยศรี เป็นวัดเก่าแก่โบราณ และเป็นที่ประดิษฐพระพุทธรูปศักดิ์สิทธิ์ของชาวอุดรธานีนามว่า “หลวงพ่อนาค วัดโพธิ์ชัยศรี” ตั้งอยู่ที่ อ. บ้านผือ เป็นพระพุทธรูปปางนาคปรกทำด้วยทองสำริด ที่ฐานพระพุทธรูป มีจารึกเป็นอักษรธรรมอีสานโบราณ เป็นที่เคารพบูชาของอีสานมาตั้งแต่บรรพบุรุษจนถึงวันนี้ ลักษณะเด่นมีท่านเจ้าคุณพระภาวนาวิมล(พระมหาอัมพร อโสโก) เป็นเจ้าอาวาส และดำรงตำแหน่งตำเจ้าคณะอำเภอบ้านผือ (มหานิกาย) วิทยฐานะ นักธรรมเอก เปรียญธรรม ๖ ประโยคและอภิธรรมบัณฑิต เป็นเจ้าอาวาสรูปที่ ๒๓
ภายในบริเวณวัดมีพระพุทธรูปปางนาคปรก มีนาค ๗ หัว ชูเหนือเศียรองค์พระ ซึ่งเป็นพระที่เก่าแก่ ผู้สร้างได้จารึกอักษรไว้ตรงแท่นพระเป็นอักษรธรรม(ไทยน้อย)โบราณ มีผู้รู้อักษรธรรมโบราณได้อ่านไว้แล้วบอกกันต่อๆ มา (ซึ่งท่านทั้งสองได้ถึงแก่กรรมไปแล้ว) มีความว่า สร้างเมื่อปี จ.ศ.๑๗๐ แห่งพุทธกาล ปีจอ เดือน ๓ ขึ้น ๑๓ ค่ำ ยามกลองแลง หัวครูคำวงษาเป็นผู้สร้าง (ท่านผู้สร้างคงเป็นพระที่มีอภิญญาญาณแน่นอน)
และมีพระพุทธรูปองค์ใหญ่อีกองค์หนึ่งเรียกกันว่า “หลวงพ่อตื้อ” เป็นพระประธานใหญ่ปางสะดุ้งมาร หน้าตักกว้างประมาณ ๖ ศอก สูงประมาณ ๗ ศอก เนื้อพระพุทธรูปสันนิษฐานว่าสร้างมาจากเกสรดอกไม้และว่านต่างๆ ซึ่งประดิษฐานอยู่ที่ศาลากลางเปรียญ ประวัติวัดโพธิ์ชัยศรี หรือวัดหลวงพ่อนาค ตั้งอยู่ที่บ้านแวง หมู่ที่ ๖ ตำบลบ้านผือ อำเภอบ้านผือ จังหวัดอุดรธานี ห่างจากตัวจังหวัดอุดรธานี ประมาณ ๕๕ กิโลเมตร เป็นวัดที่สร้างมาตั้งแต่โบราณกาล เป็นที่ประดิษฐานหลวงพ่อนาค เดิมมีพื้นที่ประมาณ ๒ ไร่เศษ ต่อมามีชาวบ้านที่มีความเลื่อมใสศรัทธาในพระพุทธศาสนาได้บริจาคที่ดินให้ และบริจาคทุนทรัพย์ซื้อเพิ่มเติม จนถึงปัจจุบันมีพื้นที่ ๗๑ ไร่ ๑๔ ตารางวา
Wat Pho Chaisri is an ancient temple and is at the edge of the cave, the sacred base of the people of Udon Thani called “Luang Pho Nak, Wat Pho Chai Si” located at A. Inside the temple there is a posture of the Naga, there are 7 Naga heads held above the head of the Buddha image, which is an old monk, the creator has written on the Buddha image in an ancient (Thai Noi) script. Keep telling each other (Which both of you have reached the schedule) is said to have been created in the year 170 of the year of the 3rd year of Buddhism. And there is another big figure, called “Luang Pho Tuen”, is the goddess Guan Yai, Pang carries the devil with a lap width of about 6 cubits, 7 cubits high, heart-shaped body made of flowers and the building located at the pavilion. In the middle of teaching the history of Wat Pho Chai Si or Wat Luang Pho Nak, located at Ban Waeng, Village No. 6, Ban Phue Sub-district, Ban Phue District, provinces, away from the defenseless province, Wat Pho Chai is a temple built since ancient times.
