ประวัติ
ตามคำบอกเล่าของผู้ก่อตั้งอำเภอนาด้วงตัวจริง คุณตาประดิษฐ์ จูมจะนะ อายุ 69 ปี ได้รับฟังจากคนแก่เล่าเหมือนกันว่า แต่ก่อนวัดบ้านนาด้วงตั้งอยู่สาธารณสุข อ.นาด้วงในปัจจุบัน ตอนนั้นวัดนี้มีเจ้าอาวาสคือพ่อใหญ่ศิลา จันทะเสน เป็นพระอยู่วัดนี้ ต่อมาวัดนี้ก็เป็นโรงเรียนไปด้วย และได้ย้ายโรงเรียนจากวัดไปอยู่โรงเรียนชุมชนบ้านนาด้วงในปัจจุบัน พอวัดแห่งนี้ร้าง คุณตาคำตันและคุณตาโสม ขันทะสิทธิ์ (พ่อตาบัว) ได้พาชาวบ้านไปถางป่าในเกาะวัดเวียงล้อมปัจจุบัน ซึ่งสมัยนั้นคุณตาคำตันเล่าว่า ตรงนี้เป็นเกาะเป็นค่ายทหารเก่า (ตามคำบอกเล่าของคนแก่อีกที) เกาะมีประตูทางออกทางเดียว มีคูน้ำล้อมรอบ เวลามีข้าศึกมาชาวบ้านต้องเข้าไปอยู่ในค่าย คูน้ำล้อมรอบที่เห็นเอาไว้ให้ศัตรูหลงพลางโดยการนำใบไม้ไปปิดพลางแล้วเอาดินโรยหน้าไว้ พอศัตรูเห็นว่าเป็นพื้นดินเดียวกันก็จะไปเหยียบแล้วก็จะตกไปในคูน้ำแห่งนี้ หลังจากตั้งวัดเสร็จจึงตั้งชื่อว่า วัดเวียง
